9-OCT-2010 -- ST LOUIS - Riders rest at the second rest stop outside the School for the Deaf in the Central West End in St Louis on their way to the finish line in front of Soldier's Memorial in downtown St. Louis in Saturday's inaugural Pedal the Cause bicycle ride. Over 700 people participated and the ride raised in excess a reported $1million for cancer research in St. Louis. Pedal the Cause was founded as an annual cycling event that seeks to provide and direct net funding for cancer research, cancer discovery grants and clinical translational care on best ideas not currently eligible for federal funds. With 100% of donations remaining in St. Louis, the event was started by Bill Koman, a St Louis business man and himself a cancer survivor.
