May 12, 2011 (St. Louis, MO) - NewsChannel 5 anchor and investigative reporter Leisa Zigman announced the formation of Team Leisa for the 2011 Pedal the Cause bicycle race held October 1 and 2 in St Louis. ..Zigman recently completed her treatment at the Siteman Cancer Center for non-Hodgkins lymphoma and was recently told that her cancer had gone into remission. She joins the Pedal the Cause team to help promote the race and raise money that stays in St Louis to fight cancer. Her physician, Nancy Bartlett, MD utilized a treatment that attacked only the cancerous cells in Zigman's body, leaving the healthy cells alone. ..Pedal the Cause, founded in 2008, provides funding for cancer research at Siteman Cancer Center and St. Louis Children's Hospital through its annual cycling challenge. The charity is driven by the singular hope that research funded by Pedal the Cause will ultimately lead to a cure for cancer.
