8-OCT-2010 -- ST LOUIS - Pro-cyclist Christian Vande Velde signs autographs and greats fans at the inaugural Pedal the Cause cycling event. Vande Velde rode on October 9th with the rest of the field. Vande Velde currently rides with Team Garmin-Transitions and is the 2008 winner of the Tour of Missouri. He was sidelined early this year when he crashed at the 2010 Giro d'Italia on the 3rd stage with a suspected clavicle break. He also withdrew after completing the second stage of the 2010 Tour de France with two broken ribs he sustained in a crash caused by oil spilled from a fallen motorcycle in the Stockeu pass descent.
